Rep. Lou Lang Helps Win Illinois House Passage of Bill to Cut Lawmaker Salaries 10%, Freeze Raises

(Springfield, IL) — April 8, 2011. Illinois House Deputy Majority Leader Lou Lang (D-Skokie) this week helped win House passage of a bill to permanently cut legislative salaries by 10% and abolish future cost-of-living raises.

The Illinois House on Tuesday voted 85-14 to approve the legislation, House Bill 2891, to slice nearly $6,800 off lawmakers annually salary and to freeze their paychecks at approximately $60,000.
